If you are a motorcycle enthusiast you prefer to tour all day long. You're often on the road so anything can happen. To protect yourself and your investment, it is always wise to insure your motorcycle properly. But do you choose a basic insurance or an all-risk insurance?

What is the current value of my motorcycle?

First, it is important to find out what the value of your motorcycle is. When the daily value of your motorcycle is low, it is not necessary to insure your motorcycle additionally. In this case, third-party coverage is sufficient. Just like a car in the Netherlands, third-party insurance is mandatory. With a WA insurance, all damage caused by your motorcycle will be compensated.

Additional insurances

Limited casco:

With a motorcycle insurance with limited casco covers not only the damage to the other person but also damage to your own motorcycle will be compensated. My tip: ask your insurer in advance what you are insured against. That way you will not be unpleasantly surprised. Most insurers cover the following circumstances:

  • Damage due to extreme circumstances
  • Damage by fire
  •  theft
  •  Accident caused by an animal

What does All-risk protect my motorcycle against?

Don't want to suffer from anything and enjoy your motorcycle with peace of mind? Then it's best to opt for third party/all-risk insurance. This additional insurance covers damage to your own vehicle, to others but also the occupants are covered. The following circumstances are covered with this additional insurance:

  •  Damage caused by vandalism
  • Damage caused by collisions
  • Damage if your car gets into water
  • Damage incurred abroad, depending on the insurer, will only be reimbursed with All-risk insurance.
